Noël & The Red Wedge

Noël, or Noël & The Red Wedge is/was a musician who collaborated with Sparks and released a couple LP records in 1979 and 1982. There is very little known about her due to her anonymity and unwillingness to divulge her real name/info. Recently (as of 7/30/2022) her music was taken off streaming platforms.

There is conflicting information as to her identity. Some people thoroughly believe she is Russell Mael of Sparks dressed up as a woman/singing pitched up. There are no definitive facts in either direction, but people still believe it due to her mystery. Russell seemingly refuses to acknowledge this musician at all in conversation so it is likely we will never know the truth. Her first LP, "Is There More to Life Than Dancing?" featured only 5 songs, one of which (Dancing Is Dangerous) would be reused the same year on Spark's Record "No1 in Heaven" on its Japanese release as a bonus track. It is unclear why this happened other than it maybe being given back to them (as they wrote it). After the release of this LP there would be no new things under the simple Noël name, and instead, in 1982 she became the lead of the band Noël & The Red Wedge and released one EP (Peer Pressure) under that name. Since then, there has been very little updating as to what happened to her.

Some sources say her real name is Patricia A. Noël and that she was a model-turned-musician from LA, and that her music sounds like Russell because he does all the backing vocals, but these are, again, pretty unfounded and there is little to no information on it.
